Kent WIF46

KentDuring the First World War the women of Kent, Ontario, near Meaford, began knitting blankets for the Women’s Patriotic Association, and kept up their good work with the Red Cross during the Second World War, finally forming their own branch of the Women’s Institute, which lasted from 1949 to 1973.  During their tenure the group supported the Red Cross and Salvation Army, donated cash and furnishings for the Meaford Hospital, sent Christmas boxes to shut-ins and ill citizens, and gave numerous contributions to mental health, UNESCO, and local schools.
