Lord and Lady TweedsimLir S We remember Lord Tweedsmuir as our beloved Governor-General of Canada Vromi9b to 1940. Lady Tweedsmuir, wire of the Governor-General has written many plays, children's booics and reiniscences. The sug- gestion met with unaninous approval and hundreds of "Tweedsmuir Histories" is the result. -

I ill. 4 Adelaide Hoodless - Founder of W.I. In 1897 she organized the first Women's Institute in the world, at Stoney Creek, Ontario. Hoodless also introduced the teaching of Domestic Science in Ontario and obtained funds to build McDonald Institute at Guelph. 'Li - rue Homestead was puchased by .W.I. in 199, with the help - or all Institutes. -

THE ERLAND LEE flUME 1973 S --' flv....s 4c:' - rl - The Erland Lee Home was bought by the Federated Women's Instutes of Ontario in June 1972 to honour Erland Lee and his wife Janet. Their daughters Mrs.R.L.Davis, Grimsby, Mrs. Frank Ryan, Oakville,Miss Alison Lee, Guelph, and Mrs. Leslie Tulk of Newfoundland, as well as two daughters of Erland Lee; Miss Marjory Lee, Hamilton, and Mrs. H.C.Freal of Stoney Creek were honoured guests at the Opening. Organization or Women's Institute in ----- ------- Keppel and South Sarawak During the Second World War, the ladies of Sarawat and Keppel organized a Rec Cross Society. It was from this organization that the Sarawak and Kepp- el Institute had its birth. Un February 28th 1946 the District Secretary, Mrs. Gordon Mcphatter met with fifteen ladies of this area and helped orgnize "South Sarawak and Kepp- ci institute!.' Twelve ladies paid their dues and became active ueinbers. -

In 1964 we began our ¶rweedsmuir History, which is an authentic history of the people, homes, and public buildings in this area. branch was honoured this year when one of our own members,?Ws Lois Urstadt was made District our president at the oistrtct Annual. Can we in our meetings studs the current problems so we en help ourselves and be able to help others?.It would be a worthy aim.
