Moreston Heritage Village Opening

2017 Grand Opening is Saturday, June 25 at 11 a.m.!

This is a day filled with activities for all! Moreston Heritage Village will be open from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.  Guided tour at 1:00 p.m. daily. Events on the opening day include:

  • Music on the Log House porch provided by Ruth and Chuck Merrill
  • Blacksmith Demonstrations
  • Costumed presenters
  • “Milkyway” our mechanical milk cow will give kids a chance to try their skill at milking a cow
  • Tasty treats at the bandstand     
  • And much more!

Visitors can bring a picnic and enjoy the day! Regular admission rates apply. Members free.

For reciprocal memberships (Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre, Waterloo Regional Museum, Simcoe County Museum and Archives, Huron County Museum and Historic Gaol), regular admission rates apply for this special event.

And don’t forget to visit beautiful Moreland Place and Gardens, located right next door to the Grey Roots Museum and Archives.

Grey Roots Museum & Archives is also open for visitors to cool off indoors and experience the family-friendly and interactive exhibit, Castle Builder. There are many exciting and educational exhibits at Grey Roots, such as Black Roots in Grey and Saints & Sinners: A Spirited History of Grey History.

Please note that due to the historic nature of the buildings, some are not fully accessible. The site itself, the Blacksmith Shop, the Barn, the Bandstand, the Engine Works and the main area of the Garage and Schoolhouse are all accessible.  For health and safety reasons, on days with a high humidex/heat warning, the period buildings will be closed.
