Seasons of Celebration
Offered from November 17 to December 19, 2007

Christmas is a magical time of year, when anything can happen. Families have shared the wonder and excitement of this special time for many generations. Your class can now join us at Grey Roots and experience the season as their grandparents and great grandparents have before them!
Spend some time with Mrs. O’Hara, an Irish immigrant, as she tells the stories of her childhood Christmases in Ireland and explains how Christmas has changed for her and her family since coming to the New World in 1845.
The children will gain an understanding of past customs and how they have evolved into the traditions of today. They will also learn about the seasonal celebrations of other cultures and religions. Why do Jewish families light the Menorah? What is the meaning of Kwanza?
Your class will also enjoy the fun and creativity of making a Seasonal decoration to take home to add to their own celebratory decorating.
This is a great way to commemorate this special time of year and gain an understanding of those traditions we hold dear. Please reserve your spot early as this program is sure to be fully booked. Our “Seasons of Celebration” fits perfectly with Grade 2 & 3 curriculum, although all elementary grades will enjoy leaning about our much loved traditions.
