Pioneer Life
Offered from April 16 - June 28, 2012
Meets the Ontario Curriculum for Grades 2, 3, and 7.
Minimum of 15 students/ maximum of 40 students plus Teacher and 1 parent helper per 6 students.
Students will learn why immigrants left their home country in hopes of finding a better life for themselves in the New World. They will find out first hand what early settlers needed in order to survive and thrive in this new land. Why was the hearth the centre of the home? What was a typical day in the life of a settler? Find out what was expected of children in a pioneer home.
Learn about life as a blacksmith's apprentice and gain and appreciation of this very important trade in an early pioneer village.
