Daily Summer Tours

Patrons enjoy a tour of Moreston Heritage Village

Following the annual opening on Canada Day until Labour Day, enjoy wandering through the Village at your own pace, talking with our knowledgeable costumed volunteers about life in those by-gone days. Take part in hands on activities in each building. Enjoy pioneer demonstrations, crafts, scavenger hunts and games. Or join one of our three daily guided tours through the Village with a Historic Site Interpreter.

First stop is the Anishinabe Wigwam, the home of the original inhabitants of this land. Continue walking to the 1850s to explore the log cabin and blacksmith shop built by our hardy pioneers. Leave this era behind to visit a typical home of second generation settlerat the Log House circa 1880. Continue walking forty years to explore the 1920s Farmhouse; Barn; Derby Schoolhouse; Good Cheer Bandstand; George Rice Blacksmith Shop and Bluewater Garage.

Moreston Heritage Village is comprised of original and replica buildings representing homes and buildings from the County of Grey.

This tour gives an opportunity to ask questions about the Village and its future plans, and about the main facility as well. One hour tours begin daily at 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m., and 3:15 p.m.

Please note that due to the historic nature of the buildings, some are not fully accessible. The site itself, the Blacksmith Shop, the Barn, the Bandstand, the Engine Works and the main area of the Garage and Schoolhouse are all accessible.
